await, wait
这两个词都有“等待”的意思,它们的区别是：
1.await是正式用词,常用于书面语,不如wait常用。
2.await后面可以接动名词作宾语,但不可接不定式, wait后面可以接不定式作状语,但不可接动名词,如：I shall await hearing from you和I shall wait to hear from you。这两句里的await和wait不可对调。
3.await, wait for这二者含义相同,但wait for后面接了宾语还可以加上不定式,而await却不可,如：I am waiting for him to come(我在等着他来。)里的waiting for不可改作awaiting。
await, expect
这两个词都有“期待”的意思。它们的区别是：
await 除了指希望之外,还暗示思想上做好了某事会发生的准备。而expect强调某事不论好坏必然发生。例如：
She had reason to expect that the trip would be exciting. 她有理由以为这次施行该是令人兴奋的。
We await your reply with interest. 我们极感兴趣地等待你的答复。
wait，await

wait普通用词，侧重静候于某处，直到等候或期待的人或事物的到来，通常用作不及物动词，与for连用。
await正式用词，及物动词，通常指不断等待，多含耐心意味。
