introduction，preface
这两个名词均有“前言、导言”之意。
introduction普通用词，指任何作品开头对读者或听众说明或介绍该作品，起引导作用的结论部分，和全书内容是一致的。
preface指作者或编者为说明全书的目的、范围、编辑方法等在序言之前写的一段简短的序文。

词源词根法
来自古法语preface，前奏，来自拉丁语praefitio，介绍，序言，来自praefari，在前面说的话，来自prae，在前面，fari，说话，来自PIE*bha，说话，词源同fable，fame，fate.它和单词face没有关系。前缀pre表“在前方”，词根fac-表“说”，所以其本义是“在前面说的话”，和中文意思很对应，pre对“前”，fac-对“言”。与之相关的词根为fess“说”，profess“宣称”，本义是“在众人前说”。
