词源记忆法
中国古时把酱油称作“豉油”，读如shiyou，日语借用了这个词，作shoyu，以后变为shoy，17世纪末英语又借用了该词，作soy或soya，用以指“黄豆”或“大豆”，也指“酱油”。为避免混淆，“酱油”一般多说soy（a）sauce，而“大豆”则常说soybean。酱油在日本古代被视为珍贵之物。正像古罗马军队一度把盐作为军饷一样，公元5世纪日本朝廷把酱油作为官员俸禄的一部分。
